Los Angeles Day 2

On our second day in Los Angeles, we visited two studios; DreamWorks and Fox Sports.
At DreamWorks, we met up with one of my college friends, Wade, who is an animator.  We were given a few sneak peaks at upcoming movie clips, an "Animation 101" demonstration featuring some raw movie animation,  a private tour of campus, and a Q&A session with Wade.  Wade shared his personal story of working in various capacities as a graphic designer and animator until landing his position at DreamWorks.  He explained his job requirements, his typical day, and some technical info related to film and animation.

Next we visited Fox Sports.  Our contact there is an associate producer and he set up a Q&A session with the Senior Vice President of Production.  After learning about Fox Sports, we were given a private tour and visited their production, editing, and broadcasting studios, including the set of NFL Sunday.  Students were able to take pictures on set and even tape footage for our high school news program from the Fox NFL Sunday desk.  It was quite an experience for our high school news anchors to be critiqued by Fox executives!

After Fox, we visited the La Luz de Jesus Gallery and Wacko store.  The students viewed work by Christina Wu and Soey Milk.  They enjoyed a fun day of shopping at Wacko, finding lots of original gifts to bring home.  After dinner, we went to The Grove, which is an outdoor shopping center.  It was nice to get out and about and a few students even ran into some celebrities!
